Is this just a "Deadbeat Dad" problem? [1]

No! Because of the growing trend of custodial fathers, there is a new trend on backwards thinking -- Non-custodial mothers who do not pay, and are not even required to pay, support. You have to know that if this mother had custody society would be outraged at this lack of concern for financial support. once again, is this the assumption that the father is the larger wage earner? It does not matter! Support is for the children, not the parents. Mom's without custody should be made to pay support for their children just as Dad's without custody are.

YES! YES!

Support is detrimined by income not gender! If the kids live with Dad, Mom should pay. Why shouldn't she? Why wouldn't you want to continue to support your child even if they don't live with you anymore?

My ex husband sure doesnt. He seems to think since they visit him 4 times a year he shouldn't have to pay support. He spends enough on them when they are there.(his words)Two of my children have orthodontics. He should help me out with that don't you think?

It can be difficult when a dad leaves the country and does not call their child and expects the mother to take all the responsibility because the dad has another relationship.  Some of them are very sick and need medical help and you would much rather stay away from them because it is not even worth the trouble.  Good luck all single parents it is a hard but rewarding job.  Just make sure that the child is put first no matter how hard it is!  A single mom having a hard time myself

Many times it's a lack of responsibility problem,  In Florida,  with more fathers becoming the custodial parent I've seen lots of child support awards to be paid by the non-custodial mother,  By the same token the state sometimes has a hard time collecting from these situations as well.  Florida will suspend the driving privledge of a person in arrears of child support.  If that doesn't work,  a warrant is issued for an arrest.

People say if i can't drive I can't go to work,  then take the bus.  Do the correct thing and pay your child support,  and you don't have to worry about that suspended drivers license.  what about all the costs of upkeep to a car,  the state figures if you're not driving the amount that would be spent on maintenance, fuel and insurance could be then given to child support enforcement.
