The ongoing battle of Child Support [1]

childsupport [2]

Child support is not money to play games with. The person paying support does not finance the custodial parents dates, vacations or otherwise. Child support is exactly what it is called: Support for your children.

Just who are you hurting?

One of dumbest attitudes around is people who with hold child support just to "get back at" the other parent or to simply retain what control they can of a failed relationship. The only ones suffering in the long run are the kids.

I heard a great quote many years ago -- We need to learn to love our kids as much as we hate eachother

I agree totally!!!

I also think "the ability to pay" statement that you get handed is a joke! As the primary caregiver, you have no choice, but to cover the costs and provide for your childs needs, even at the extreme sacrafice of some of your own needs. But those are to pay the support can play this game of "I Can't AFFORD To Pay...." And again the kids suffer! You aren't doing them any favours by sacraficing your needs as a human being, but... around and round we go!!

Where is the devotion, love and consideration for what is best for the CHILDREN!!?!?!

I absolutely agree. Child support helps us the parents to provide the kids with the necessities of life. Roof over their heads, food in their bellies, clothes and even sports to help them grow. What if the parent who is paying support has been paying the minimum support for 2 kids for 4 years, $50.00 a week and she has been in contempt 3 times? Yet, she has the nerve to try and tell us how we are to use the money and get this she even went as far as to say that the oldest child told her we used an arrears tax check to pay for a Florida vacation. Now she works full time taking care of handicapped, diabled and ill people, making good money. Her income has improved so, that she even suggested that if we allow the kids to move back she wouldn't even ask for support but yet, she hasn't bothered to volunteer modifying support to help us help her kids. I hate divorces that involve kids, the kids suffer so and court dates never end.
